Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Won't Have Any DLC–And For A Good Reason

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the biggest games of 2024 becoming a top seller and nabbed several award nominations for this year’s The Game Awards Come from South African Online Casinos . For the second installment of the massive Remake trilogy, players have been curious if DLC is in the pipeline, but the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, confirmed that there are no plans for any expansions for Rebirth–but that’s okay for a very solid reason.

Talking to the Daily Star about all things Final Fantasy, Hamaguchi said there weren’t any plans since he and his team are focused on getting the yet-to-be-named Part 3 out as soon as they can.

“We definitely do hear the desire from fans, the voices out there that want that kind of thing,” Hamaguchi said. “I understand it completely, but I think, from my perspective, what the fans really want to see the most is not necessarily DLC. They want to see the third part of the series as quickly as possible.”

Seeing how the first part of the trilogy launched in 2020 for the PS4, with the DLC a year later that focused on Yuffie as a playable character–subtitled Intermission–fans might have taken that as setting a precedent since these games are so colossal. That DLC was later rolled into the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and renamed Intergrade.

“So that’s why we’ve decided not to focus the development resources on creating additional extra episodes for DLC at the moment,” he added. “We really are putting all our efforts into getting the third game out as quickly as we can. So for the moment, that’s where we’re focusing our time. I want [Remake Chapter 3] to come out as quickly as possible, and then move on maybe to look at some other stories, dig a bit deeper.”
