UPDATE: Reba’s National Anthem Clocked in at Over 90 seconds, but she added a second  “the Brave” at the end. Some sportsbooks, may grade it on the first “Brave” only. 

Super Bowl national anthem betting is one of the first Super Bowl prop bets to cash in on tonight, with oddsmakers setting an Over/Under on the time required to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and many other props around the anthem on the broadcast. Reba McEntire is singing in 2024, and oddsmakers have her projected total length for tonight at 89.5 seconds.

Gareth Southgate to delay naming England Euro 2020 squad

Gareth Southgate has decided to delay naming his final England squad for Euro 2020 after a late change of heart and will instead wait until 1 June before trimming the group to 26 players.

England’s manager has seen his plans complicated by the involvement of English clubs in the Champions League and Europa League finals this week, and he wants time to assess players who have been struggling with injuries. Southgate is set to name a provisional squad at 1pm on Tuesday, with the number involved potentially exceeding 30. It will give Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold a chance to win over the manager with his position in the final cut under threat.

Three men charged over mass pitch invasion at A-League Men Melbourne derby

Victoria Police have charged three men in relation to the mass pitch invasion at the A-League Men Melbourne derby on Saturday.

All three of the men, aged 23, 19 and 18, presented at police stations on Monday, Victoria Police said in a statement.

The 23-year-old man, from Craigieburn, was charged in relation to an alleged incident involving Melbourne City’s goalkeeper, Thomas Glover, who was struck in the head by a metal bucket full of sand.

Mediocre Euros and Copa América show there is such a thing as too much football

On the one hand, the best side in both the Euros and Copa América ended up triumphant. On the other hand, there was just about everything else, from the general quality of play to the fact football’s authorities seem to have entirely lost the capacity to stage matches. However bad Uefa’s organisation of various aspects of the Euros was, what happened at Hard Rock Stadium was on a different level.

An inquiry will presumably be held to determine exactly who or what was to blame for the scenes that delayed kick-off by 75 minutes and led to as an estimated 7,000 fans without tickets gaining access to the ground, but what is clear is that there is need of major improvement before the stadium hosts seven games at the World Cup finals in 2026.…
